About

A doctor. And a patient.

I'm a doctor, advocate, writer, educator and mentor. I live with Crohn's Disease, and underwent lifesaving ostomy surgery at the age of only 27. I use the lessons in resilience, patience and endurance my illness has taught me to support other chronically ill people around the world.

I am unique because I have personal lived experience of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's Disease) and I am also a medical doctor who understands the way healthcare systems and policy can help or hinder patients with chronic illness.

The book I'm writing about my journey.

My upcoming book about my journey with Crohn's Disease and how I've applied the lessons I've learned to my life and career as a doctor.

A warm, honest account of resilience, recovery and finding a full life alongside chronic illness — written for patients, carers, and the clinicians who walk beside them.

Keynotes & public speaking

Available for keynotes and speaking engagements.

I am an experienced public speaker, available for keynote addresses and other public speaking opportunities — discussing the intersection of medicine, policy and chronic illness through the lens of personal lived experience as a patient, and through my professional experience as a doctor. My special interest is Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and chronic illness more broadly.

Mentoring & support

Support for people navigating chronic illness.

My mentoring and support service is for people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, people with ostomies, and people living with chronic illness. It is warm, non-judgmental, and shaped by both medical training and lived experience — a space to be understood without having to explain from the beginning.
